Frequently asked questions
How much does it cost to build an application on AWS?
It depends on what the application needs to do, so every project is scoped and priced individually. After a free consultation we send a written scope of work, a price for the build and an estimate of the monthly AWS running costs, before any work starts.
How long does it take to build an application on AWS?
It depends on the scope. A small API or automation can take a few weeks, a larger application longer. The scope of work includes a timeline with stages, so you see working software early rather than waiting for one big release.
How much will the application cost to run on AWS each month?
Before the build starts, we estimate the monthly AWS running costs for your expected usage. Serverless applications with modest traffic often cost very little to run, and we add budgets and cost alerts so you are told early if costs rise.
Should my application be serverless or use containers?
Serverless (AWS Lambda) usually suits APIs, event-driven work and variable traffic; containers (Amazon ECS or EKS) usually suit existing applications and steady, long-running workloads. We recommend one after understanding your application, and explain why.
Do you build websites and mobile apps?
We focus on the AWS side: backends, APIs, data, automation and deployment. For the screens your users see, we work alongside your own developers, designers or agency.
Who owns the code and the AWS account?
You do. The application runs in your own AWS account, you pay AWS directly, and the code lives in your own GitHub or GitLab repository. You receive documentation so any engineer can work on it later.
Can you work with our existing developers?
Yes. We can take ownership of the AWS architecture, infrastructure and deployment pipelines while your team builds the product features.
What happens after launch?
The application is handed over with monitoring, alerts, backups and a runbook in place, with alerts sent to your team. Ongoing support after launch is available on request, during UK working hours, and is agreed separately.
